November Newsletter

Dear Parents:
Happy Fall/Thanksgiving! I have so much to be thankful for including you, wonderful parents, and your sweet little ones! This month is going to cover the following:
1. H= Health. We are going to cover some VERY important basics, including, but not limited to: why it is important to brush your teeth, wash your hands, and eat certain foods! Snack will be Hot Dogs (by popular vote from the children who keep asking me when we get to eat hots dogs at school!)
2. I = Insects and Spiders. This creepy, crawly unit is a favorite. We will talk about and handle some of our most favorite critters (i.e. ladybugs, butterfly, crickets, etc) Snack will be Ice Cream.
3. Thanksgiving Week. We will be learning about the first Thanksgiving as well as having our very own feast on the 18th. For that day we are asking each child to bring a food to share with his or her friends in honor of Thanksgiving Day! Please respond via the comments section with something you can bring - and remember to please cut or make the portions sizes very small, it does not take much to fill these little tummies up! This feast will take place at 11:15 to 11:45 - so your child can count this as their lunch for that day!
Please remember there is no school on the 11th for Veterans Day nor the 23rd or the 25th for our Thanksgiving break! Enjoy this special time with your family and loved ones.
Firefly book orders due on November 2nd!
Call me if you have any questions about this information! Thanks for always blessing me with your smiles and sweet attitudes. Have a great month and know that I love your children!
Love,
Britni

Dear Parents:
Where has this year gone? I want to share some year end thoughts with all of you. What a pleasure and privilege to have shared in your little ones lives this past year. To watch their growth and development, engage with them in learning, and watch their imagination has truly been an amazing experience. When I look back over his year's experiences, I feel that some how the tables have been turned. I have been the student and your children have been the master teachers.
From them I have learned to trust, to be happy, to hope, to look for good in others, to laugh, to be forgiving, to take great joy and pride in the simplest of pleasures, and to not upset another student or they might disinvite you from their birthday party! Don't worry - you always get the invite back!
And THANKS to you parents, your children are wonderful because of your examples. Even with all of life's interesting twists and turns, it is wonderful and so full of goodness. Enjoy your summer and remember to laugh and say "I Love you" a lot. Come back and see me anytime!
Wishing you all Love and Happiness, Britni Nelson

Happy Almost Spring! This month on the 10th we will be going to the Fire Station at 8890 Roediger Lane in Fair Oaks. Be there at 10:00 a.m. or meet a few minutes early at my house. If the weather is nice, I will be walking! Then on the 17th at 12:15 we get to watch Orangevale Open's Willy Wonka play! This should be really fun - and they will be providing a snack. If your child needs a ride to any of these activities let me know and I can arrange this. Also during the month of March you can expect your child to learn about...

2010-2011 School Year Registration
Next year brings some fun changes in time and activities available. I will be adding an outdoor messy easel and a listening center that the children can use during free time among other things. =)
In order to maximize the opportunity to get to know other children and combine for large group activities, I am leaving the 9:00 session and changing the 12:30 to a 10:30. The proposed schedule would go something like this:
9:00 - 12:00:
9:00 - Free time
9:30 - Circle Time
9:45 - Theme
10:15 - Snack
10:45 - Letter
11:15 - Combined Sharing
11:45 - Closing Circle
10:30 - 1:30:
10:30 - Free time
11:00 - Circle Time
11:15 - Combined Sharing
11:45 - Letter
12:15 - Snack
12:45 - Theme
1:15 - Closing Circle
Of course during the window of time that there will be all the children here, I will have another teacher on hand! This new schedule will work nicely because when one group is doing an indoor activity another will be doing an outdoor activity. This will also allow us to combine for parties/large group activities! I am really excited for this next year as I have some great new ideas to share with your children!
Of course registration is open to returning students FIRST! Please have:
Your registration form into me by March 4, 2010!
a. If you are a returning student you do not have to pay the $50 deposit.
b. If EITHER time would work for you do not select a preference. This way I can organize the children into groups that I think would learn well together.
Please look in your e-mail for a registration form!
THANKS!

February Newsletter

Where has time gone? I can not believe it is February already! As many of you have noticed we have started our sign in process. Each morning, as the children come in they will have to find their name on the table and trace it. This will give them a chance to practice writing their name daily as well as an opportunity to read not only their own name, but their friend's as well! I handed out copies to everyone last week - so make some copies and practice at home! This month we are going to get going on....
1. P = Pets. We will be talking about different types of pets and what having a pet entails. Parents are welcome to bring pets the last 10 minutes of class on Thursday February 4th! Snack will be Pizza.
2. Presidents and Valentine's Day Week. (There will be no lettered objects to bring to me.) The actual Valentines party will be Thursday February 11th. Each child should bring a Valentine for each of their 5 classmates.
3. Q = Quilts. We will be learning about how although we may just be one person, we can make a large difference! (Just as a piece of fabric is not much until combined with others to make a quilt.) Thursday February 25th each student can bring a Teddy Bear which will be used for a picnic on the quilts! Snack will be Quesadillas.
There will be no school the week of 15th to the 19th in observance of Presidents Day.
Book Order due Tuesday February 9th.
Your little ones continue to bring much joy, and I learn from them daily!
