Christmas Party

Our Christmas party this year will be on Thursday December 17th. During class on Tuesday we picked names for our gift exchange. (See below - the person's name is a BIG SECRET!) Please help your little one choose a $5 gift for our party. It does not take much to please these little ones. On our party day, please bring your gift, wrapped with a gift tag saying: To:_____ and From:_____, so we will know whose is whose. We will open our gifts, one at a time, so everyone can enjoy the excitement. The child that is giving is truly as excited as the one receiving, what a special feeling!

December Newsletter

Dear Parents:
Warmest Holiday Wishes and an early Merry Christmas! This month is going to be really exciting as we begin back where we left off on learning our letter sounds, starting with...

1. J=Jungles. This unit is going to be super busy and fun. We will learn everything from what a safari is, to all the animals that live out in the deep of the jungle! Snack will Jello.

2. K = Kings and Queens. This week your children will become royalty! We will learn about what rulers do, how they dress, where they live, etc. Snack will be Kabobs.

3. Christmas Week. There will be no letter this week (and consequently no sound object to pick up at the front door.) Our party will be on Thursday December 17th. We will be picking names for our gift exchange this week.

You may have noticed that your children came home last week with all the letters and books that they missed so far! We will do more "make-up" letter work in February and then again in May - so tell your children to not be alarmed if they miss a day as they will get the chance to do it!
No book order is due this month as December's was already turned in. Also, we will be closed for Christmas break from Tuesday December 22 through the 31st. Our first day back will be January 5th!
As always, please call with any questions or concerns.

November Newsletter

Dear Parents:

Happy Fall/Thanksgiving! I have so much to be thankful for including you, wonderful parents, and your sweet little ones! This month is going to cover the following:

1. H= Health. We are going to cover some VERY important basics, including, but not limited to: why it is important to brush your teeth, wash your hands, and eat certain foods! Snack will be Hot Dogs (by popular vote from the children who keep asking me when we get to eat hots dogs at school!)

2. I = Insects and Spiders. This creepy, crawly unit is a favorite. We will talk about and handle some of our most favorite critters (i.e. ladybugs, butterfly, crickets, etc) Snack will be Ice Cream.

3. Thanksgiving Week. There will be no letter this week (and consequently no sound object to pick up at the front door.) We will be learning about the first Thanksgiving as well as having our very own feast on the 19th. For that day we are asking each child to bring a food to share with his or her friends in honor of Thanksgiving Day! Please respond via the comments section with something you can bring - and remember to please cut or make the portions sizes very small, it does not take much to fill these little tummies up! This feast will take place at 11:30 for the morning class and 1:00 for the afternoon class - so your child can count this as their lunch for that day!

Please remember there is no school on the 24th or the 26th! Enjoy this special time with your family and loved ones.
Firefly book orders due on Thursday, November 5th!

Call me if you have any questions about this information! Thanks for always blessing me with your smiles and sweet attitudes. Have a great month and know that I love your children!

Love,
Britni

October Newsletter

Dear Parents:

Happy Fall! We're having a great year so far, and zipping right along with our alphabet. Now that we are done with A, B, and C here is what your child can look forward to this month:

1. D= Dinosaurs. This unit is going to be a blast. We are going to read about, recognize, and learn some names of various dinosaurs. Snack will be Donuts.

2. E= Everyone is Different - Don't forget to have your child bring in a family picture on or before October 13th (preferably a 5x7 size!) We are going to discuss how everyone is unique, comes from different families, and has different feelings. Snack will be Eggs.

3. F= Farms. We will be learning about how farmers work with fruit, vegetables, and animals! We are taking our first field trip on the 21st of this month - that coincides with this unit (see previous post for more details.) Snack will be Fruit Snacks.

4. G= Ghosts and Goblins (Our Halloween Unit). On the 29th the children can wear their costumes over their clothes! What they take off will just come home in their buckets. This week will be filled with lots of Halloween stuff including "Trick or Treating" around our neighborhood. Snack will be Grapes (eyeballs).

Firefly book orders due on Thursday, October 8th!

Thanks for your support and trust. I am really enjoying your little ones so much. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns; I am always open to helpful suggestions. Enjoy October!

Our first field trip...

... is officially set for Wednesday October 21st!
We are going to Zittel's Pumpkin Farm (in conjunction with our unit on Farms that we are working on that week). It is located in Folsom at 6781 Oaks Ave (off Auburn-Folsom Road). Our appointment is at 10:00 a.m. You can either meet here at school to carpool, or you can meet us there. We will wander the pumpkin patch, hear a short story about pumpkins, see lots of farm animals, have a hay ride, and get a small pumpkin. The farm tour is $6.00 per child and lasts approx 1 hour. This is also the price for any siblings coming that can walk (if they are going to be in a infant backpack - they are free). Parents are not charged. I am going to start collecting the money ahead of time so please drop off an envelope with your child's name on it on my counter on any preschool day leading up to the field trip. Also, please use the comment section on this post to RSVP if you can or can not make it, AND if you are going/driving how many others you would be willing to transport if needs be.
This trip is going to be really fun. Hope you all can make it!
